How do I add a tag Key=Name,Value=SupportServer
to the "Start EC2 Instance" tag field in Automaticloud
I added Name=SupportServer
and started the job and it never worked. If I pick the instance ID option the job starts with no issues.
Please help.

Start Instance by Tag

Post by admin »

To start an instance with a certain tag you need to add a tag with this name in the "Key" value to the instance.
Using your example: Go to AWS console and a add a tag with Key="SupportServer" to your instance. Then enter "SupportServer" in the tag field of the "Start Instance Job".

Additional info you can find here: http://www.automaticloud.net/start-ec2-instance/

Would it be possible to add this as a feature?

As far as I remember EC2 machines only support up to 10 tags per machine, so we currently use different values for tags as well.

e.g. backup=daily, backup=weekly and so on.

That would be a neat little feature to have indeed. Let's make it happen Stephan!
